Hult Global Case Challenge: The Clean Water Crisis
The 2011 Hult Global Case Challenge, in partnership with Water.org, focused on the global clean water crisis. Students were asked to identify trends in water and sanitation services – economic, technological, social, cultural, political, and others, to help Water.org increase the effective provision of water and sanitation services to the Bottom of the Pyramid (BOP), ultimately reaching at least 100 million people in 5 years.
Hult Global Case Challenge
The Hult Global Case Challenge is an annual competition presented by the Hult International Business School, the Clinton Global Initiative, and a leading NGO. Each year, college and university students from across the globe are invited to address the world's most pressing social challenges through real-world solutions. Events are held in Boston, San Francisco, London, Dubai, Shanghai, and online. The winning solution receives seed funding for implementation through a 1 million USD cash grant.
The Winner
A team from Cambridge University's Judge Business School won the 2011 Hult Global Case Challenge proposing M.Paani, a community empowerment model leveraging mobile technology and micro-financing. M.Paani offers a sustainable, scalable, and market-driven solution to the challenges associated with water access, safety, sanitation, and investment in water and sanitation infrastructure in urban and peri urban slums.
The Results
More than 100 teams from across the globe participated in the 2011 Hult Global Case Challenge, offering solutions to some of the most pressing challenges to water and sanitation. To summarize the results, proposals were analyzed to identify trends, context, and possible classification of challenges and solutions presented by the teams. Categories were then developed and assigned to each proposal as appropriate. Results were evaluated by data analysis software in order to identify and summarize trends across all submissions.
